Foundation to Work as a Joint Platform for Private Sector Skills Development Institutions

Dhaka, 28 August 2026: The first meeting of the Bangladesh Private Sector Skills Development Foundation (BPSSD Foundation) was successfully held on 28 August 2026 at a hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, marking an important step toward strengthening collaboration and coordination among private sector skills development institutions in Bangladesh.

The meeting was held under the leadership of Dr. Md. Faridul Islam, with participation from professionals and representatives associated with the skills development sector. The meeting focused on the Foundation’s organizational development, documentation, website development, committee formation, future programmes, and strategies for strengthening cooperation among private sector skills development organizations.

The BPSSD Foundation has been established with the broader objective of bringing together private skills development institutes, training providers, trainers, assessors, industry stakeholders and other organizations working in the skills ecosystem under a common platform.

Building a Stronger Private Skills Development Network

During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of developing a stronger network among private sector skills development organizations. While various institutions across Bangladesh are providing vocational and technical training, greater coordination and knowledge sharing among these organizations can contribute significantly to improving the overall quality and effectiveness of skills development.

The Foundation aims to provide a platform where member organizations can share experiences, exchange knowledge, identify common challenges and develop collaborative initiatives for the advancement of the skills sector.

The organization also intends to facilitate stronger linkages among training institutions, industries, employers, trainers, assessors and other relevant stakeholders, helping ensure that training programmes remain aligned with the evolving needs of the labour market.

Documentation and Institutional Development

A significant part of the first meeting was dedicated to the Foundation’s official documentation and institutional framework. Participants discussed the preparation and organization of necessary documents, policies, records and other materials required to establish a strong and transparent organizational foundation.

The importance of maintaining proper documentation and developing clear operational procedures was also highlighted as the Foundation moves toward expanding its activities across the country.

Development of an Online Platform

The meeting also discussed the development of an official website and digital platform for the BPSSD Foundation.

The proposed website will serve as an information and communication platform for the organization and its members. It may include information about member institutions, skills development programmes, industry collaboration, training activities, publications, events, announcements and other relevant resources.

The digital platform is also expected to support greater connectivity among skills development professionals and institutions and help promote knowledge sharing across the sector.

Committee Formation and Future Activities

The formation of the Foundation’s central committee and specialized committees was another key topic discussed during the meeting.

The proposed organizational structure may include committees or working groups focusing on areas such as skills development, curriculum and training, assessment, industry linkage, research, digital transformation, trainer development, membership and capacity building.

Participants emphasized that an effective committee structure will be essential for implementing the Foundation’s objectives and ensuring active participation from member organizations.

Focus on Industry-Oriented Skills Development

The Foundation plans to place particular emphasis on industry-oriented and demand-driven skills development.

As industries continue to evolve due to technological advancement, digital transformation and changing labour-market requirements, skills training institutions need to continuously adapt their programmes and approaches.

In this context, the BPSSD Foundation intends to promote stronger collaboration between training providers and industries, with a focus on curriculum improvement, competency-based training and assessment, trainer and assessor development, emerging skills, digital skills, entrepreneurship and employment-oriented training.

Supporting Bangladesh’s Skills Ecosystem

The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between the government, private sector, industries, training institutions and development partners to transform Bangladesh’s large youth population into a skilled and productive workforce.

Emerging areas such as Industry 4.0, digital transformation, green skills, entrepreneurship, new technologies and future occupations were identified as important considerations for the country’s future skills development agenda.

The Foundation aims to contribute to this broader ecosystem by creating opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, capacity building, quality improvement, industry linkage and collaborative skills development among private sector stakeholders.

Leadership of Dr. Md. Faridul Islam

Under the leadership of Dr. Md. Faridul Islam, the BPSSD Foundation is expected to continue building its organizational structure and expanding engagement with private sector skills development institutions across Bangladesh.

The first meeting marked an important milestone in the Foundation’s journey and established the initial direction for its organizational and sector-focused activities.

Moving forward, the Bangladesh Private Sector Skills Development Foundation aims to work as a collaborative platform for private skills development organizations and contribute to building a stronger, more coordinated, quality-focused and industry-responsive skills development ecosystem in Bangladesh.
